Tätä on odotettu. Jo kauan sitten tuubista hävinnyt 10 vuotta vanha Jayn video, jossa hän mainitsi muunmuassa, että SM on paras auto sateella mitä hän on ikinä ajanut, on kaivannut seuraajaa.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6QH6q3C_W3kTuossahan se on! Maininnan arvoisia kommentteja:
- "Paras 5-vaihteinen manuaalilaatikko mitä on ikinä tehty yhteenkään autoon"
"He obviously loves it, stating it has the "best 5-speed manual gearbox ever made", "no new car looks as beautiful", "THE best rain car I've even ridden".
He gets couple of things wrong, speaking about chrome trim (which SM has almost none of, external brightwork is stainless steel), and power steering assistance lowering as speed increases, so roadfeel increases... No, SM has full hydraulic steering (not assistance, but pure hydraulic) and has never any direct roadfeel apart from hydraulics breaking down, which is the only time steering wheel can contact the pinion in rack. Also he says to drive it in highest setting over snow and mud, which is obviously not recommended, second highest setting being the correct maximum one for almost all cases. But these are small mistakes from old guru, to be forgiven naturally!
I like his SM's little bit "worn down" interior carpets and underbody. Clearly shows he has been using his car a lot.
He also rightfully mentions Jerry as the true guru regarding US SM's, stating however Jerry does not run SM world any more. When did this happen?
Special mention on the video goes to the moment Jay turn steering wheel with one finger in traffic lights, lock-to-lock, motor on idle. His SM does this without problems. Hydraulics are in top notch shape in his! 80% of SM's I have driven cannot do that because of internal leaks in steering governor and steering rack plunger valve.
All in, great video of our beloved SM and goes long way in explaining, why SM is not just a nostalgia piece but truly enjoyable, totally modern driving experience even today! Thanks Jay."
