Hi ![]() In most of the new cars, there are build in Follow me type lights, and as many things in Xantia that are out of the list. My first "hack" was to add relays to Low / High Beam Lights and to take the amperes out of the stalk switch in the cabin. What i have done was first to remove the original 10A fuses (A1-A2, B1-B2) ![]() On A1/B1 pin are the relay controls, from relays out via 10A fuses goes to A2/B2. Later on(few months), it come the circuit for "follow me", based on NE555 timer and variable resistor. With the second one you can change the delay based on: T(sec) = 1.1xR(ohms)xC(farads) or in my case: T(sec) = 1.1 x 80 000Ohms x 0.00047Farads = 41.36sec ![]() ![]() Maybe the circuit is far from perfect but do the job. Feel free to test, modify and use.Good luck ![]() |

Did you take any before-after pics about the lights in the dark? Xantia light wires are joke and I would do the same relay adding if I wouldn't use xenons. |

Sorry, i didn`t. After adding relays, also i replaced all bulbs(high / low beam) with H1 Osram Night Breaker+ and can say there is improvement. With Xenon will be one idea better but it will move it to illegal state for driving in Finland and also the lamp glass itself has ribs what destroy the beam of the xenon light.Of course that is personal choice, but i consider if that was crystal look kind of glass as on the new models it will be times better and nicer to add xenon. One important thing is: as +12V supply line, can be used one small bolt point what is situated in plastic cover in front of the small sized fuses. Also need to be checked the connection under that same box. I mean the whole small fuses box under, has few plugs that link the fuses to the cable lines. That pins get oxide, or that small moist related chemical cover and loose also contact strength which also make the things bad. |

Yep, the illegal issue has been brought up into my eyes multiple times in this forum... However, Xantia lights are not the worst with xenons in matter of teasing other drivers. I have adjusted my own ones a bit lower than normal lights and nobody hasn´t ever blinked lights for me. Still with this adjustment the lights are better than originals. But anyway, good work with those relays and it definitely is not a bad adding for any Xantia. ![]() |

I have witnessed how the police stop mate who was with passat B5 with Xenon lights and told him to remove them when he come home ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() And that is my last version. At least for now work fine, but lets see what will be when the weather get hot(if get hot ![]() |

In the fun of statistics.. On evening after rain I found my lights on.. Somehow there was 1.8V jumping trough the power transistor and was keeping the relays On. So that was end of "no problem state". Day after I manage to find small relay (about 300Ohms coil) and figure out that if NE555 can drive up to 200mA that will solve my problems. And here it is: ![]() ![]() ![]() All that work this time proved well |

Be prepared for a blackout or a car fire. How to prepare oneself, I wouldn't know. Just jealous. |
